Launching soon: 12 octa-core mobile phones


MediaTek has launched its MT6592 true octa-core processor in 2013. With this the octa-core battle for smartphones are readying to see a new low in the year 2014.

Karbonn Mobile's Executive Director Shashin Devsare in a statement to a leading Indian news daily have revealed that the company will be launching octa-core processor based phones in 2014. The company can launch one with a clock speed of up to 3.7 GHz and with 16 megapixel camera.

 


Gionee Elife E7 mini

After the successful launch of the Elife E6, The company can soon be lunching the Elife E7 Mini. As a mini cousin of the Elife E7 it will come with a 4.7-inch IPS display screen (1280  x 720  pixels).

The phone is rumoured to be running Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Amigo user interface with on a 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor. The phone is expected to sport a 13 megapixel auto focus swivel camera with LED flash. There will be 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory and a 2100 mAh built-in battery in the phone.

 


One Touch Idol X+

AlcaTel has also joined the bandwagon of octa-core processor inspired companies, to offer its latest phone. This company is rumoured to be working on the MediaTek MT6592 to launch the TCL octa-core phone. This is expected to roll for global market with Alcatel brand as the One Touch Idol X+.

The handset has just leaked via GSMinsider, showing a thin profile, rear camera supported by a LED flash. “other specs could feature a 5” display or better, with 2GB of RAM, and will obviously run on Android” speculates UberGizmo.




Sony Tianchi 6-incher

Sony is working on two phones for next year – a Mini variant of the Xperia Z1, which might be called the Xperia Z1S and the Tianchi. The second one “will reportedly be aimed at budget-minded consumers, but will nevertheless sport an 8-core processor” says a report in Techradar. Sony might use the latest MediaTek octa-core ship to run this 6-inch phone. This phone is expected to sport a 720p display resolution.

Sony has just launched a budget Xperia C using a MediaTek processor for emerging market and it will come as no surprise if the company continues to rely on MediaTek chips for budget smartphone market.




Intex octa-core phone

After the successful launch of the 2 GB RAM based quad-core the Aqua i7, the company has announced a new phone for the next year sporting an octa-core processor.

The upcoming phone will sport the MediaTek MT6592 processor on a 6-inches HD IPS LCD screen (we expect the display to be full HD). There will be 2 GB RAM, 16/32 GB internal memory and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS on the phone.




New LG phone and tablet

LG is rumoured to be working on a octa-core chip for its mobile phones and tablet devices. The company according to UnwiredView will use this octa-core chip called Odin will come to power its mobile handsets and tablets

The new processor is expected to power next generation mobile products from LG for the year 2014. But we will not be surprised if the Korean company announces this chip at the January Consumer Electronics Show.

Latest rumours indicate it could be the LG G2 successor, the G3. 



Samsung phone with MediaTek octa-core chip

This year Sony adopted Mediatek chip for its budget Xperia C. It will not be a surprise if Samsung follow the same path for introducing low-cost phones next year. “Reports from Taiwan are stating that Samsung have confirmed that they will be using Meidatek’s 8-core MTK6592 chipsets in devices in the future. Which devices the processor will find their way in to has not been revealed but they will likely be entry-level handsets and (possibly) tablets aimed at Asian markets” says a GizChina report. 



HTC One octa-core

HTC One is rumoured to be working on an octa-core variant of the HTC One phone. The company might be launching a new HTC One octa-core with 3 GB RAM. The HTC One based on a Snapdragon 600 processor and 2 GB RAM. In the new upcoming smartphone “aside from the bump in processor and RAM, the remanding hardware is said to be the same” reported Slashgear in September.

Greek website techcommunity.gr posted a screenshot of the phone detailing the specs of this upcoming phone. Other specs will be full HD display at 1080 x 1920 pixels, 4.7 inch display, ultrapixel camera. 




Upcoming Canvas phone

After the launch of the Canvas Turbo A250, the company will be launching an octa-core processor based phone which will house the MediaTek MT6592. This phone is expected to sport a full HD display and better camera than the Canvas Turbo.

@MMXNewscaster  tweeted “Micromax's Octa Core phone is real. Will hit market in early 2014” soon after the launch of the Canvas Turbo. This new phone might be called the Canvas 5.




Huawei Ascend P6S

The Chinese company Huawei has plans to use an octa-core processor for 2014. The company is planning to introduce the Ascend P6S into the market in 2014 with a new octa-core chip inside.

According to a news from Androids-lab.it, this phone has just made an appearance on the Chinese website Tenna. This phone is expected to sport the chip octa-core K3V2 clocked at 1.6 Ghz, as confirmed by the President.of Huawei , Mr. Xu Xin Quan, says this news. (Courtesy Google translate). The processor will be based on the ARM big.LITTLE architecture with a 1.8GHz dual-core Cortex-A15 and a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A7 processors reports GsmArena.  Other specs might include 2GB of RAM and a 16GB internal memory, 4.7 inch display at 720p, 8 megapixel camera according to the Androids-lab.it news.





Huawei Honor 4

This phone from Huawei might be announced by the end of this year using the MediaTek’s MT6592 “true” octa-core processor. Some of the reports have been calling this the Honor 3x. The company’s CEO Richard Yu has already confirmed this on Sina Weibo, suggesting that the two devices will prove great competitors against Xiaomi’s smartphones. The phone was expected to launch in December 2013 as per a report in softpedia, but it seems the compnay will take to the platform of CES in January 2014 for the launch. One of the news refereed in this is the Honor 4 (which is also called Glory4 in few markets).

Huaweinews posted a pic of the phone from Weibo microblogging site. “Having MT6592 on Honor 4 might be a disadvantage for the upcoming Ascend P6S because from the leaked information we know that Ascend P6S has a slower processor compared to MT6592” says this news. This phone might see daylight this December.




Samsung octa-core Galaxy phone

Samsung launched the Galaxy S4 in two processor variants in 2013. After this flagship the Exynos Octa 5 chip landed in the Galaxy Note 3 tablet device. For the next year Samsung is expected to launch at least one phone with the Exynos Octa processor during the first quarter. (Galaxy S4 was launched in the first quarter)

This year in October DigiTimes published a report mentioning that stating that Samsung can use MediaTek processors next year in its cheaper phones. “MediaTek is expected to enter the supply chain of Samsung Electronics with its quad- and 8-core mobile processors in the second half of 2014, the Chinese-language Commercial Times cited CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets as saying in an October 2 report” this report stated.
