Google to make possible internet speed of 10 gigabits per second

Mountain View, California: Google Inc is in the process of developing a new technology that is going to revolutionise the way you use internet. The corporation is in the process of exploring the possibility of an internet connection that is 1,000 times faster than the present speed.

If achieved, you would be able to connect to the internet at a mammoth speed of 10 gigabits per second.

“After one gig, it would be 10 gigs so we are already working on 10 gigs,” announced Patrick Pichette, Google chief financial officer who discussed Google’s 10 gigabit experiment at a conference in San Francisco.

Few months ago, scientists in the UK have created the fastest ever real-world internet connection, using commercial-grade fibre optic lines to clock up speeds of 1.4 terabits per second.

It’s believed to be the fastest speed test of its kind, and would allow users to hypothetically download 44 high-definition films in a single second. Downloading the entire English version of Wikipedia would take just 0.006s.

A joint research team from French telecoms company Alcatel-Lucent and BT created the connection using an existing 410km-stretch of fibre optic cable between BT Tower in London and a BT research campus in Suffolk.

DISTURBING PICS: Girl cuts off tattoo of her CHEATING boyfriend's name with a SCALPEL, mails the skin to him

Essex: The 26-year-old british woman decided to slice off her skin with a scalpel on which she had got a permanent tattoo of her borfriend's name after she came to know that he was cheating on her. Torz Reynolds from Colchester in Essex was in a relation with Stuart Chopper. Stuart told her that he is going to move to Alaska for a new job while he was just staying at his home in Tiptree in Essex. He broke up with Torez while he told her about moving away. Torez told to Daily Star that Stuart was at his home only with a new lady. She was heartbroken.
She had tattooed 'Chopper's Bitch' on her forearm, which she sliced off after she came to know that Chopper was cheating on him with another girl. She used vasocaine spray to numb the area and then peeled off the skin using tweezers, Daily Mail reported. It took her one and a half hour to complete the process.
Torez also posted the picture with blood all over on her arm due to peeled skin on Facebook. Also, she mailed the tattoo skin to Chopper. She told Daily Star that she did it to send him a message about never messing with her again. After sending him the cut off skin, she said that she cannot imagine his reaction to it, reported Daily Mail.
It is notable that an old Facebook post from 2012 in March shows that he dealt with the tattooed name of some other lover in the same way. She has no regrets about chopping off the skin. She says it is just skin and will grow back.

Syrian girl strangled with metal wire for refusing to abide by the believes of militant group

Damascus: War in Syria has so far claimed over 1,40,000 lives and forced millions of people to seek refuge in neighbouring countries. Historians have described the war as one of the most tragic in recent times.
Few days ago, a video was uploaded by Syrian Observatory of Human Rights showing execution of young girl. In the video, a hooded executioner can be seen strangling a girl with a metal wire.
Daily Bhaskar cannot verify the veracity of the video, but Syrian Observatory of Human Rights claim that execution was carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
The news report published in Iran's Press TV claims that the girl was put to death because she refused to recognise the beliefs and diktats of the group.
This is the second incident in which ISIS has been caught exercising excess on innocent civilians. Few days ago, a girl was allegedly stoned to death for operating a Facebook account.
The stoning was ordered by the Sharia Court in Syria's Rakka.

Syrian girl stoned to death for using Facebook account

Rakka, Syria: A young girl was stoned to death by sunni-militant groups in Syria for operating Facebook account.

Fatoum Al-Jassem was taken to a Sharia court after she was caught using the social networking website, in Rakka, Syria. The Sharia court declared that using a Facebook account amounts to adultery and the girl should be punished by stoning, according to a news report published in Iran's FARS news agency which quoted a report published in Arabic-language Al-Rai Al-Youm.

The members of the Al-Qaeda group in Iraq, also known as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) were behind the incident.

The ISIS, or Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, is an hardline Islamic group based in Iraq. They have been fighting an active war against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria and the government forces in Iraq.

The group's ideology is based on extremely strict interpretation of Islam.

Ironically, the Al-Nusra Front operates a Facebook account of its own.

REVEALED: 1 in 4 Americans did not know that 'Earth rotates around the Sun'

Chicago: Every Indian child is aware of the fact that the Earth rotates around the sun but 1 out of every 4 American did not know it. It was revealed in a survey by National Science department of America. Nearly 2200 people were included in the survey. Ten questions about physics and biology were asked in the survey in which only 6.5% answers were correct.

American Association shared the survey results in a conference about science. In the survey, only 74% people were able to tell that the earth rotates around the sun. Also, 48% of people agreed that humans are one of the oldest creatures on earth.

This survey is conducted every 2 years and the reports are given to the Parliament and the President. Every 1 out of 3 people said that the government should pay more money for science.

In the survey 90% people said that science can prove to be helpful in the dangerous situations. Also, some number of people showed their interest in the inventions of science. The National Science Foundation said that half of the people in the survey agreed that Astronomy is connected to science.

IOA elections today, BCCI chief N Srinivasan’s kin set to get top post

New Delhi: In its bid to return to the Olympic fold after 14 months of suspension, the much maligned Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will hold its highly awaited elections on Sunday with BCCI chief N Srinivasan’s younger brother N Ramachandran likely to be elected unopposed as IOA’s new President. Ramachandran currently heads World Squash Federation.

The IOA polls are being held after Abhay Singh Chautala and Lalit Bhanot were barred from contesting on the ground that they have been charge-framed by a court of law.

Kho Kho Federation of India president Rajeev Mehta and All India Tennis Association chief Anil Khanna will be elected unopposed as secretary general and treasurer respectively.

Chautala and Bhanot were elected as president and secretary general in the IOA polls on December 5, 2012, a day after the IOC suspended India for government interference and for allowing tainted persons in the election process. The IOC had declared the elections "null" and "void".

There will be elections only for vice-presidents today as nine candidates were left in the fray for eight posts which will be conducted in the presence of three IOC observers and a sports ministry official.

The elections, which will be conducted by a three-member election commission of the IOA, will be preceded by a Special GBM which will make an amendment in the constitution under the diktat of IOC so as to make it clear that charge-framed persons would have to cease being members of IOA besides being barred from contesting elections.

"It will be a short affair. The General Body will make a small constitutional amendment and then straightway election will start," a top IOA official told PTI.

The IOC had hinted recently that India could be brought back to the Olympic fold after the IOA elections. IOC President Thomas Bach had hinted India’s return even before the Winter Olympics which began in Sochi if the IOA held its elections before the Games.

Three Indians could not take part in the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics under the tri-colour due to India`s suspension by the IOC, and the IOA had to draw flak from all quarters for bringing shame to the country.

Clean Sports India, a movement for a corruption-free sports in the country, also wrote a letter to the IOC questioning the inclusion of Chautala and Bhanot in the electoral college on the ground that they have been charge-framed by a court of law in India.

CSI said in view of several anomalies in the election process, the polls can be challenged in a court of law later on as the IOA is a body constituted under the Societies Registration Act.

Chautala, who cannot stand in the elections, had been authorised by his faction to choose the candidates for various posts, including those of president, secretary general and treasurer.

It is also learnt that some sort of a compromise was reached between the factions led by Chautala and IOC member in India Randhir Singh.

Randhir`s daughter Sunaina Kumari, who is currently Bowling Federation of India chief, will be one of the six joint secretaries.

Three representatives each from Indian Boxing Federation, Taekwondo Federation of India and Fencing Association of India were barred by the IOC from casting votes in tomorrow`s elections on the ground that these three NSFs have been suspended by their international federations.

The decision came after the boxing world body, AIBA recommended the IOC not to allow the IBF representatives to cast their votes.

IOC Director of NOC Relations Pere Miro, IOC Ethics Commission member Francisco J Elizalde from Philippines and Olympic Council of Asia Director General Husain Al Musallam will be the observers from the world body in the elections.

Having blatantly violated the IOC`s diktats on more than one occasion throughout last year, the IOA was finally left with no option but to amend its constitution as per the world body`s directives following an ultimatum that it would de-recognise India if the "charge-framed" persons are not barred from contesting polls.

De-recognition would mean that India cannot be a part of the Olympic Movement and the country`s sportspersons would not be allowed to take part in any international event.

It all started 14 months ago when on December 4, 2012, the IOC suspended the IOA for adhering to the government`s Sports Code and for allowing tainted persons to take part in the election process.

In an act of defiance, IOA went ahead with the polls next day. The world body refused to recognise Chautala and his team of office bearers.

The IOC later proposed a meeting with the IOA and government representatives but maintained that the Indian body must hold its elections solely under Olympic Charter to return to the Olympic fold.

After three postponements and controversy over the participation of two members representing the suspended IOA, the meeting took place on May 15 last at Lausanne, Switzerland with Sports Minister Jitendra Singh and Beijing Olympics gold winner shooter Abhinav Bindra attending it.

The IOC issued the roadmap for India`s return to the Olympic fold, asking IOA to amend its constitution before July 15 and elect new office bearers by September 1 last, both under the supervision of the world body.

On August 15 last year, IOC stated that tainted persons will no longer be eligible to contest IOA elections.

But, a defiant IOA refused to implement the provision, saying that it had to follow the law of the land.

The IOA even proposed to dilute the contentious clause, saying the chargesheet clause must apply only to convicted persons.

But the IOC shot down any compromise formula and asked the IOA to sack "charge-framed" officials through constitutional amendments by October 31 and conduct fresh elections by December 15 last.

The IOC later agreed to IOA`s proposal to hold elections on February 9 after IOA agreed to bar charge-framed persons from contesting the polls.

Indian flag hoisted at Winter Olympics in Sochi

Sochi, Russia: After a gap of over two years, India was finally able to register its official presence as a member of Olympic association. Five days after the suspension of India was lifted, India was finally able to hoist its flag at the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia.

The ban was lifted by International Olympic Association (IOA) on February 11 following fresh elections. The lifting of the ban has brought the total number of nations participating in the Winter Games to 88.

An emotional Indian Olympics Association President N Ramachandran thanked the IOC President Thomas Bach for lifting the ban.

Indian contingent participated in a small ceremony for hoisting the flag at the Games' site.

The ban was lifted after Indian Olympics Association conducted elections as per the directives issued by International Olympic Committee.

IOC put a ban on IOA after electing tainted men like Lalit Bhanot (secretary general) and Abhay Singh Chautala (president). IOC demanded that the elected members should be immediately dismissed in accordance with the Olympic Charter.

Secret report names Dhoni and Meiyappan part of a 'deal' involving fixing in IPL

Hot Bollywood Gossip: Director's wife installs cameras inside his office to spy on him!

In Madhur Bhandarkar's 2012 film 'Heroine', he had shown how actors and actors-turned-directors try their best to woo their co-actresses during the shooting of their film, as a stepping stone to a one-night stand or a fling. In one of the film's scenes, we see how the better half of Sanjay Suri (playing the role of actor-director) is apprehensive about letting him work with any of the existing actresses of the film industry, worrying that they will end up having a fling with her husband. And her nightmare is about to come true when Sanjay calls his co-actress Kareena to her bedroom at midnight (Click here to check out the particular scene).

Now, why are we recollecting this? That's because, the latest inside khabar of the film industry is that a Bollywood director's wife (who is also an actress) has begun to doubt her husband's loyalty as she thinks he is desperate for a certain actress' attention  whom he has apparently fallen for.  As per the tabloid, "The director is constantly hankering after the attention of this one-film-old actress and is always trying his best to impress her in different ways. However, he has failed to make the actress fall for him so far."

The Bollywood director's wife is extremely upset as she has learnt that her husband, who has recently launched many newbies in the film industry, is trying his level best to impress one of them and date her. The actress in question is just one-film-old.

(The above picture is a scene from Heroine where Sanjay Suri's wife is happy to be with him on his outdoor shoot locations so that she's assured he's not mingling with any of his co-actresses.)

To keep an eye on her philandering husband, this actress-wife of the director has now apparently installed cameras in his office. According to the insiders who've spilled this gossip to the tabloid, she does not want to take any chance, especially owing to the growing instances of divorce cases in the film industry.

While we could only connect this situation with Madhur Bhandarkar's film (the director's films, for the record, have always been based on real life instances of those in showbiz. For eg. Page 3, Fashion, etc), we wonder which Bollywood couple this is, and hope there will be no trouble brewing in their paradise. Meanwhile, hope the director is aware of the planted cameras in his office!

Iconic Hollywood child star Shirley Temple dies at 85

New York: Iconic child movie star Shirley Temple Black died on late Monday night of natural causes in her home at Woodside, California, media reports said on Tuesday. She was 85.

Born Shirley Jane Temple April 23, 1928, she began acting at the age of three. The Hollywood actress rose to fame as a child star in 1930s classics such as Bright Eyes (famed for song 'On The Good Ship Lollipop'), Heidi and Curly Top, Los Angeles Times reported.

She was first noticed in the 1932 film 'War Babies', and also performed in the Baby Burlesks series of short films.

Her singing, dancing and acting over 18 years had drawn the hearts of millions.

Her death, announced at 3:00 am local time (1100 GMT), triggered an outpouring of tributes on social media and elsewhere.

"The Good Ship Lollypop has sailed today with Shirley Temple aboard a true 1 of a kind," tweeted Oscar-winning actress and TV star Whoopi Goldberg.

Delighting audiences with her singing, dancing and sweet and simple innocence at a time when money and jobs were scarce and everyday life in America was especially challenging, the star of "Curly Top" and "The Little Princess" became, at 6, the youngest person ever to win an Oscar.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt praised her "infectious optimism" and once declared that "as long as our country has Shirley Temple, we will be all right."

She reigned supreme at the box office for three consecutive years, from 1936 to 1938, and starred in more than 40 movies, most of them before the age of 12.

She won a juvenile Academy Award in 1935, and a lifetime achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild in 2006, according to the movie industry database website IMDb.

Later in life she also served as US ambassador to Ghana and what was then Czechoslovakia, as well as a US delegate to the United Nations General Assembly.

Shirley Temple Black, to use her married name, also battled breast cancer in the early 1970s.

"We salute her for a life of remarkable achievements as an actor, as a diplomat, and most importantly as our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and adored wife of fifty-five years of the late and much missed Charles Alden Black," said her family.

Born April 23, 1928 in Santa Monica, California, Shirley Jane Temple made her debut in "Baby Burlesques," short films which parodied the major motion pictures of the day, but in which children played the leading roles.

In them, she mimicked film diva Marlene Dietrich and Tarzan's love interest, Jane, among others.

After the controversial films were banned in 1933, the child star turned to feature films and starred in "Stand Up and Cheer" the following year.

Several movies followed in the years to come, including "Bright Eyes," which featured her trademark song, "On the Good Ship Lollipop," followed by "Heidi" and "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm."

Egged on by her mother to "sparkle, Shirley, sparkle," she became a wildly popular child star.

Though she made films as a teenager and a young woman, such as "The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer" with Myrna Loy and Cary Grant and "Fort Apache" with John Wayne, Henry Fonda and John Agar, her first husband, her career lacked the luster it had in its early years.

After divorcing Agar, she met the man who would become her second husband, Charles Black. They wed in December 1950 and she continued acting on television and radio.
In the 1960s, she took on a new role in politics, serving as a US delegate to the UN General Assembly under then president Richard Nixon. She went on to become the US ambassador to Ghana and, later, the then Czechoslovakia.

Black was feted by the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors in 1998, and she was named one of the greatest movie stars of all time by Premiere magazine and Entertainment Weekly.
She also figures on the American Film Institute's list of the 50 Greatest Screen Legends.

Charles Black died on August 4, 2005.

She is survived by her three children Lori, Charlie and Susan.

Drama

One would definitely not expect such a poor show from director Ali Abbas Zafar. His film Gunday, which rides on the shoulders of rising star Ranveer Singh (Bikram), promising actor Arjun Kapoor (Bala) and established star Priyanka Chopra (Nandita), has turned out to be boring, and fails to leave any impact.

The film, which is based on the story of two kids, who come to India after Pakistan- Bangladesh partition, has unnecessary drama and heavy emotional scenes. The film’s weak plot is the final nail in the coffin. The director’s idea of recreating the 1970s and 80s drama has definitely failed to create an impact in 2014.

How is the chemistry between Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh?
Let’s get straight to the point. Arjun and Ranveer’s off-screen chemistry is better than their on-screen chemistry. In fact, the actors who played their childhood in the film, showed better bonding than the actors. However, individually, both Arjun and Ranveer have performed as per expectations. The weak plot and lame direction are to be blamed for the flop show.

How is Priyanka Chopra in the film? Does she play an important role?
Priyanka Chopra is getting better with every film, and Gunday is just another step in the journey of her stardom. Just like Arjun and Ranveer, she also plays an important role. The diva has looked beautiful and acted well. Her item number Asalaam-e-Ishqum is the highlight of the film.

Have Arjun and Ranveer justified their ‘Gunday’ title?
After watching the film, we have come to a conclusion that the film’s title should have been ‘Chichorey’ instead of ‘Gunday’. The two might have given themselves the title of the ‘Biggest Gundas’ in Calcutta (Now Kolkata) in Gunday, but what they have been doing is complete chichorapanti. In fact, during the ‘Ghantiyaan’ song, one of their gang members reminds them, "tum log gunday ho", and they are not suppose to behave in this way.

What is the flaw?
The biggest flaw is its weak plot. The events take place at such a pace in the film that the audience fails to establish a connect. Also it is hard to digest the way characters behave in the film. For instance, two friends (Bala and Bikram), who were so close that they could have gone to any extent to protect each other, try to kill each other owing to a misunderstanding. The entire 30 minutes sequence where Arjun and Ranveer try to impress Priyanka is the most boring part. The director has tried to recreate the cinema of the 1970s and 80s, when films based on male bonding would turn out to be blockbusters. But that magic is missing in Gunday.

How is the music?
Just like any Yash Raj film, Gunday’s music is also above average. But there is nothing remarkable about the music and it will soon fade away from your playlist.

The Big Question - Should you watch Gunday?
Only if you are a big fan of Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh or Priyanka Chopra, and you can pay to just watch them on the big screen. Or if you don't mind whiling away your weekend in the cinema hall watching some drama, maar-dhaad and naach-gaana. For everyone else, wait till the next week's releases
