Allegations of government funds misuse: Outgoing AAP govt clears way for new case against Shiela Dixit

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government may have finally called it quits a couple of days back, but not before clearing way to open investigation against former Chief Minister of the state Sheila Dixit.

Shiela Dixit led Congress government in Delhi was accused of diverting government funds towards the party activities in the 2008 state elections. Lower court had ordered filing of an FIR against her in August, 2013.

However, the incumbent Congress government challenged the decision in the high court.

The AAP government has now demanded a withdrawl of the same petition, saying the Delhi government won’t fight the case on behalf of Shiela Dixit. The decision also got a nod from the Lt. Governor.

High Court would pronounce its decision on the given petition on 18 February.

Dixit already stands as an accused in the 2010 Commonwealth Games scam as the alleged embezzlement of tax payer’s money occurred during her stint as state’s chief minister.
