HP has launched two new tablets for the Indian market. The two tablet named Slate 6 and Slate 7 are Android OS based quad-core tablets and have been launched in India yesterday in an event in New Delhi.

The company has signed the Ram-Leela and Chennai Express star Deepika Padukone for its new tablets. The Slate 7 VoiceTab and Slate 6 VoiceTablets run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and are powered by a quad-core Marvell PXA1088 processor powered at 1.2 GHz.

The Slate 6 takes a 6-inch phablet size with a display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. There is 1GB of RAM and 16 GB internal memory in the phablet. There is a 5 megapixel primary camera on the rear side and a secondary 2 megapixel camera. This 3G ready dual sim phablet has also got dual front firing speakers with stereo sound.

In the next few pages read more about the tablet and also look at pictures from the launch event.

The Slate 7 is basically a tablet with support for dual-sim and features a 7-inch IPS display. The display has a 1280 x 800 pixels display resolution and runs the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. This quad-core tablet (like the Slate 6) has 1 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory. Expandable memory is 32 GB and HP also offers 25 GB could storage. There will be 5 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front-facing camera. This tablet weighs a bit heavy at 325 grams.

Slate 6 takes power from a 3000 mAh battery and the Slate 7 is powered by a 4100 mAh battery.

The Slate 6 VoiceTab is priced at Rs. 22990 and is available at the online store of HP hereThe Slate 6 feels and looks like a phone, and it should since it’s basically a phone when it comes to its size, but has been packed with features that a tablet sports. However, you can do everything you can do on a phone with this tablet. “With the Slate 6, you don’t have to make that sacrifice. Use it just as a phone and you would be quite happy”, says Indian Express in its initial review.. The Slate 7 has been priced at Rs. 16990 and is yet to come to store.

Times of India however points out that the tablet is a bit a slow in its performance. This is what the reviewer says- “HP is using the stock version of Android in Slate 6. This is a good thing. Unfortunately, it looks like HP just didn't optimize the OS at all for the device. The user interface on Slate 6 has noticeable lag. This lag is visible while scrolling through the list of home page, or during multitasking. Also, apps take a few extra milliseconds to open. And so does the keyboard when you click in a text field.”
