New Zealand ends Day 3 at 252/5: McCullum scores unbeaten ton, Kiwis lead by 6 runs

Wellington: In a brave fightback led by skipper Brendom McCullum's century, New Zealand recovered from the early collapse and ended the third day of second Test match at 252/5 leading by 6 runs.

Brendon McCullum and Bradley John Watling were on crease at draw of stumps playing on 114 and 52 runs respectively, in the third and final session of the second Test match being played at Basin Reserve Stadium.

The skipper along with Watling gathered 162 runs for the sixth wicket.

McCullum also completed 5000 Test runs of his Test-career in his innings of 114 becoming only the fifth Kiwi batsman to do such.

Earlier, Zaheer Khan scalped three Kiwi wickets and Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with a wicket each.

Zaheer claimed the wickets of Fulton, Rutherford (35) and Williamson (7).

Latham (29) and Anderson (2) were dismissed by Shami and Jadeja respectively.

McCullum was dropped twice by Kohli and Ishant on the scroe of 9 and 35 respectively, earlier in the day.

India would be hoping to claim the remaining 5 wickets early tomorrow and restrict lead of Black caps to an easily gettable target.
