Know what went inside the Lok Sabha when the contentious Telangana Bill was passed amid TV blackout




New Delhi: The Congress-led UPA government passed the contentious Telangana Bill amid massive uproar and high-pitched Opposition in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
 
In an unprecedented move, Meira Kumar ordered that the live telecast of the proceedings be stopped as ministers from Seemandhra sloganeered.
 
The Centre, unfazed by vehement protests, moved the controversial bill on Tuesday for consideration and passage in the Lower House.
 
Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde moved the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2014 for consideration even though ministers and MPs from Seemandhra region trooped into the Well of the House opposing bifurcation of the state. 

 

According to CNN-IBN, as many as 67 amendments were passed clause by clause by headcount. The Parliament was adjourned after the Telangana Bill was passed. It will go to the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. 

 

The doors were closed, live telecast was stopped, and Congress literally bulldozed the Telangana Bill through the Lok Sabha, reports Times Now. 

 
An amendment to make Hyderabad the sole capital of Telangana was defeated. TV reports said that Hyderabad will be the joint capital for Seemandhra and Telangana for ten years till new capital gets created.
