Will not recognise US co-ordinator on Tibet: China

Beijing: China firmly opposes appointment of a special coordinator from the US for Tibetan issues, a foreign ministry spokeswoman said Monday.
"We have never recognised and will not recognise in the future the so-called special coordinator for Tibetan issues appointed by the US," Xinhua quoted Hua Chunying, foreign ministry spokeswoman, as saying.

"China resolutely opposes any foreign country using Tibet to interfere in China's internal affairs," Hua said.

Media reports Friday said that Sarah Sewall, an official from the US responsible for human rights, had been appointed as special coordinator for Tibetan issues.
