Jammu: Pakistani troops violated ceasefire on
Wednesday for the fifth time in a fortnight, firing on Indian positions
along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir’s Shahpur sector in Poonch.
In retaliation, the Indian troops also fired across the LoC, and successfully foiled an infiltration bid by Pakistani militants.
The troops had intensified patrolling along the border line in view
of reports of attempts of infiltration from across the border.
According to reports, four militants wanted to cross border from Krishnaghati area.
On June 7, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was killed when
Pakistan opened heavy fire with automatic weapons and rockets on Indian
posts along the LoC in Poonch sector.
Earlier, on May 27, Pakistani troops had pounded Indian posts along the LoC in the Poonch sector with rockets.
A Brigadier and two jawans were injured on May 24, when Pakistani
troops opened fire on Indian positions along the LoC in Tutmari Gali
sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
