Bieber`s home patrolled by local police

Policemen are patrolling Justin Bieber's rented home in Atlanta, Georgia to ensure that the pop star is not hassled by fans.

Bieber moved in to the mansion of R&B star Dallas Austin last week after signing a three-month rental agreement, and he is rumoured to be keen to find a property of his own in the hip-hop Mecca, reports contactmusic.com.

The area that the property is in, falls under the jurisdiction of the Sandy Spring Police Department. The force has now put officers on special patrol to guard the troubled pop star's privacy.

The law official of the area is said to be aware of the problems Bieber had with some of his neighbours in Calabasas, California; and insists his police department will not tolerate any troublemaking from the "Baby" hitmaker.

The hairstylist believes that he has helped create her image and so, he wants to be compensated accordingly.

Our films misinform about cancer: Manisha Koirala

Our films misinform about cancer: Manisha Koirala

Manisha Koirala, who hails from Nepal and emerged a star in Bollywood and then survived cancer, does not approve of the kind of portrayal that cancer patients get in Hindi films where they are invariably shown as fighting a losing battle. She says it misguides already misinformed people about the feared disease.

"In our films, they show that if you are suffering from cancer, then you have to die. Nobody has till now shown that you can deal with cancer and you can also survive for 30 to 40 years," Manisha, a survivor of ovarian cancer, told IANS in a conversation in the capital. She returned to the country last June after spending over six months in New York for treatment.

About a million cases of cancer are detected in India every and it kills about half of them. These numbers are projccted to go up considerably in the coming years.

The 43-year-old feels "a lot has been done in India for cancer awareness, but a lot needs to be done especially the villages.

"The information is not sufficient. People say that if you are suffering from cancer, you will die. Unfortunately, that upsets me.

"I come from a background where people are educated, but what about poor women? Maybe the disease has not killed them, but the fear will take their lives. Even if they have a chance to survive, they will be dead with all the negative talk around," said the 43-year-old, who looked her charming self even with her cropped hairdo.

Now as a Good Samaritan, Manisha, who comes from one of the best-known political families of Nepal, is doing her bit for cancer awareness by speaking out about the disease. She recently lent support to the Sahachari Foundation to raise funds for cancer survivors with its Design One initiative. She also hopes to launch an NGO that will promote good health.

Manisha, one of the prettiest actresses of her time, says supporting such causes comes naturally to her because of what she went through during her ordeal.

"One can't describe the tough time. We (I) don't even remember how tough it was because it is painful to remember that. When you come out of it, you take a while to gain confidence and to meet people because you wonder what the other person is thinking..."

It is thus imperative to "learn to take it in one's stride".

"We have to learn to accept it and move on. One should not be bogged down with anything in life. God has given each of us enough strength within us. We must find that core strength within, fight it and emerge successfully," she said, flashing what still looks like a million dollar smile!

She finds herself a changed person.

"I am hugely changed from earlier on. I think I started seeing things in a clearer way. I feel one should value life every day - valuing your moments; valuing people around you is needed because god knows what is going to happen. Grab life with both hands and hug it," she said.

During her prime, Manisha worked in critically acclaimed films like "Bombay", "Dil Se" and "1942: A Love Story". She had made her Bollywood debut with "Saudagar" in 1991, and recently made a comeback with Ram Gopal Varma's "Bhoot Returns", which didn't do well at box office.

Now she is hopeful for a second innings but has her choices set in her mind.

"I made many wrong choices earlier. I started taking myself for granted as I felt I am good-looking and talented, but not any more. I know my talent and whatever capacity I have as an actor.

"If that is going to get utilised to the optimum, only then am I going to do the film," said the actress.

Being written about is part of celebrities' life

Being written about is part of celebrities` life

The paparazzi culture in the country is on the rise and it often irks several celebrities, but Bollywood's once leading actress Karisma Kapoor says it's all a part of the game.

At the launch of the book "Timeless Austen" Friday, when asked if she believes that a celebrity's personal life is public stuff, she said: "Every celebrity is in the public eye. If something is written about them, it's all a part of life and the game and we as known figures have to take it in our stride."

The 39-year-old actress was last seen in the film "Dangerous Ishhq" in 2012. She has no plans to do another film anytime soon.

However, she is dabbling with new things like radio jockeying.

Shocking! Girl child`s body found in Mohnish Behl`s home

The Mumbra bungalow, where the body was dumped, belongs to actor Mohnish Behl, son of yesteryear star, Nutan. The shocked actor says he hopes the culprits are caught soon

The body of a newborn girl dumped inside the swimming pool of a bungalow owned by film actor, Mohnish Behl, sent Mumbra residents into a tizzy on Saturday. The girl's body was found wrapped in a polythene bag with a stone tied around her body to ensure drowning.

The body was discovered by Behl's security guard. `I was on my customary morning round of the bungalow when I suddenly saw something in the swimming pool. It was a baby girl's body.

It was wrapped in polythene and tied with a stone. I immediately called up sir (Behl),` he said. When contacted, Behl sounded upset. `It was a two-day-old girl child and I suspect it to be a case of female infanticide. I really don't understand this.

If someone does not want a child, why can't they give her away for adoption instead of killing her?` he asked. Speaking about the incident, Behl said, `My manager got a call from the watchman who takes care of our bungalow, saying that he had found a plastic bag with a body, inside the swimming pool. Our swimming pool is an open space and accessible to people. I immediately told him to inform the police.

My wife-manager Ekta and I reached the house within a couple of hours,` he added. PSI Azam from Mumbra police station said, `We have registered a case under section 318 of IPC. We will visit the adjoining slums to investigate. Doctors who conducted the post mortem said the body has been in the water for around two days.`

Kangana relates to her 'Queen' character's fighting spirit

Kangana relates to her `Queen` character`s fighting spirit

Kangana Ranaut's character Rani from the film "Queen" lacks confidence, but the actress says she relates to the fighting spirit and "never give up" attitude associated with the role.

Directed by Vikas Bahl, "Queen" focuses on a girl named Rani, her journey of growing up as an individual, and how she rediscovers her identity while on a honeymoon alone.

"As a girl, I relate to the character (of Rani) but she has serious issues, like she lacks confidence, she does not have self respect even, if I say. Contrary to her, I have never faced such issues in my life," Kangana told reporters here Friday during the launch of a new TV show "Halla Bol".

"So my character Rani in the film has these issues, but I don't. But I do relate to the kind of fighting spirit she has. She never gives up," she added.

"Queen", releasing Feb 28, also features Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon.

Mind It! It's nobody's business to know what I am up to

Mind It! It`s nobody`s business to know what I am up to

Before the release of her film on Mary Kom, Priyanka Chopra is full of energy and opinions. She speaks of chemistry, singing and her offbeat choices

You went all out to play a cabaret dancer in Gunday. Tell us something about that.
The movie is based in Kolkata in 1970 when cabaret was very popular then. Many Anglo-Indian girls from Europe performed in the city back then. We did not want to make it an Indian cabaret because Helen Ma'am has done a great job in the past and I don't think we could have matched up to it. So, we tried to do it the European way.

Could you relate to your character in this film?
I usually don't relate to any of my characters, but surprisingly, I related tremendously to Nandita of Gunday because she is a very proud girl and has a keen sense of what's right and wrong. She is a cabaret dancer, she is graceful, poised, well-spoken, beautiful... but at the same time, she is very tough and can put the boys in their place.

Apparently, director Ali Abbas had approached his Mere Brother Ki Dulhan heroine, Katrina Kaif, for your role before you.
I know Katrina and Ali are very good friends but I have no idea whether he approached her. Aditya (Chopra, the producer) had called me and Ali came and narrated the script. There are so many films which I was supposed to do but other heroines have ended up doing - a film eventually belongs to the person whose name is in the credits.

Which one of the film's heroes - Ranveer Singh or Arjun Kapoor - do you share better chemistry with?
Both Ranveer and Arjun are great actors but I can make chemistry happen with a pole (laughs). You reach a point where you create chemistry.

You are pretty fearless in the roles you take on, in Barfi!, for instance.
I am definitely a rebel... but only if there is a cause. I have always been someone who bends or breaks rules because I like to push things a little bit to see how far I can. I have authority issues which is why I am so excited about my film about Mary Kom because to me that's not just Mary's story, it is the story of every girl who is told 'These are your limits'. Mary would turn around and say, 'No, I can do more than what you believe. I'd do the same.

How is the preparation for playing Mary Kom coming along?
(Grimaces) Ghaas-pus khilate hain mujhe - who eats this food? It's killing me - my whole day revolves around going to the gym. I have new-found respect for the boys because they do this all the time, every day! The film on Mary Kom is a tough one physically because I have to create a new body and I am also learning an entirely new sport when I am not sporty in any way.

When is your next single out?
We have shot the video, now it's on the editing table. We should be ready by the end of March. It's my first solo single. It's a cover of the 1991 single I Cant Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt. It's my spin on one of my all-time favourite songs. I have made it into a dance track with EDM (Electronic Dance Music).

When do you see yourself getting married?
I am a very private person. Unless I have a ring on my finger and I know this is the person I want to live with for the rest of my life, I don't think it's anyone's business to know what I am doing.

I have come into my own in my 30s: Vidya Balan

I have come into my own in my 30s: Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan on her chemistry with Farhan Akhtar in her forthcoming film, 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects', and how marriage has changed her life for the better and more in a freewheeling interview.

You are that rare actress who has bagged good roles even after 30.
A woman blossoms the most in her 30s. I have come into my own in my 30s and that's the reason these roles have happened to me.

What changes have you found in your personal life after marriage?
I am miserable on free days when I have to stay away from Siddharth Roy Kapoor. I didn't think I would be like this, and earlier I would make fun of my friends who expressed similar thoughts and would say 'Please don't behave like that.' But now I want to be with Siddharth!

Also, I used to be very restless but I am a calmer person now. My mother now tells me she would have married me off at the age of 20 if she had known this would happen (laughs).

What is that one quality of Siddharth that you love?
He just has to smile at me and I melt.

Have you thought about starting a family?
I will have a child when I am ready to share Siddharth. I have still not had enough of him (laughs). Did it take time for you to create that chemistry with Farhan Akhtar?
Earlier I thought that Farhan was reserved. When we started working together, I realised he has a great sense of humour and I enjoyed that. We needed a certain familiarity because we play a married couple. The zone between familiar and unfamiliar creates chemistry between actors.

What went wrong with your last picture, Ghanchakkar?
I was under pressure because people expected me to be successful. We tried to do something different with that film and not many people liked it... which is fine. For the first time in my career, I was thinking in numbers which shouldn't have been the case. Ghanchakar was not a mistake, but it wasn't the way people expected it to be.

How was it working on Bobby Jasoos, which is produced by your Parineeta co-star, Dia Mirza?
I loved the script; it's also a human story not just a detective film.

Successful male stars seem reluctant to work with you. Does that disappoint you?
Are they? (Laughs) Probably they have to justify their presence in the film so it's understandable if they don't want to do a female-centric film. So unless it's on equal footing, it is difficult. But I am very happy with the work I am doing... this doesn't bother me.

No God! Please No! Kapil To Cut Down His Comedy Show For Movie Career

No God! Please No! Kapil To Cut Down His Comedy Show For Movie Career

The very talented super-entertainer Kapil Sharma whose career has been on a breathtaking upswing since 2013 is all set to embark on a movie career.

Having just signed Yashraj Film's Bank Chor to be directed by Bumpy(!!), Kapil is faced by a new time-management crisis.

He would now have to truncate his very popular comedy show Comedy Nights With Kapil by half to be able to accommodate the film debut.

Says Kapil, `By now somehow managing my schedules has become a habit for me. I am talking to you early in the morning after having worked on my show for 36 hours. Doing two episodes every week means I've to provide at least 70 minutes of content every week. It's not easy to think up funny gags every 10 seconds. We can't afford to let our audience get bored for even a few moments.`

Given the time constraints Comedy Nights With Kapil would have to revert to its one-episode-per-week format to accommodate Kapil's movie career. The film starts shooting in April.

Says Kapil, `I've no choice but to do this. The channel Colors doesn't want me to do the show only once a week. But for the sake of the film I've no choice but to cut down my television show by half.`

Kapil says he is very gung-ho about his film debut. `I waited a very long time to do a movie.I didn't want to just carry over my Comedy Nights image into my movie career. When I heard the script of Bank Chor I was completely taken up.It allows me room not only for comic scenes , there is also an element of seriousness in the story.`

The leading lady is yet to be decided. `It's basically the story of the guys.So the male casting is being done first. I am happy that I'd be making my film debut with a Yashraj films. I grew up watching their films. I never dreamt I'd be part of a Yashraj film one day.`
