Pakistan innings:
Over 40 || Score 215/4
Misbah and Akmal have batted extremely well in the last ten overs and they have got their side into a commanding position. Misbah as usual has been very patient, at the same time hasn't hesitated in smashing the loose deliveries for boundaries. Umar Akmal has played his natural game, and with these two out there, it is very much Pakistan's game.

Over 30 || Score 152/4
Pakistan lost another wicket when Sohaib Maqsood hit one straight to deep midwicket. Misbah is now joined in by Umar Akmal, who can change the course of this game with some lusty blows. Pakistan now need 145 runs from 20 overs with six wickets remaining.

Sri Lanka were back in the match as they picked the wickets of two set batsmen – Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez. Shehzad was bowled by a delivery from PC de Silva which didn't spin and hit the stumps. Hafeez on the other hand was trapped in front of the wicket when he failed to play a straight delivery from Mathews which nipped in slightly. Two new batsmen – Sohaib Maqsood and Misbah are at the crease.

Suranga Lakmal got the first breakthrough for Sri Lanka when Sharjeel Khan was caught by Angelo Mathews in the seventh over of the innings. Since then, Mohammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad have added unbeaten 27 runs for the second-wicket partnership. Pakistan have a deep batting line-up and with wickets in hands, they can for sure chase this total. Lasith Malinga bowled five overs so far and went without a wicket. Angelo Mathews would now expect his spinners to weave some sort of magic to put Pakistan under pressure.

Sri Lanka innings:
Over 50 || Score 296/6
Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal have got their side almost near 300 runs, but considering they were 232/4 at the end of 40 overs, Sri Lanka would be upset as they couldn't breach that 300-run mark. Pakistan have the batting line-up to chase the total, but then Sri Lanka have someone like Lasith Malinga who's 10 overs could probably make the difference.

Pakistan bounced back in the game as Sri Lanka lost three key wickets in the last ten overs. Umar Gul got the second breakthrough for Pakistan when Sangakkara played a short ball straight to midwicket. It ended the massive 161-run stand between Sanga and Thirimanne. Soon after reaching his century, Thirimanne too lost his concentration as he was bowled by Saeed Ajmal. Mahela's stay at the crease didn't last for long and he was bowled by Shahid Afridi. Sri Lanka have already reached 232 runs in 40 overs and they up for a huge total here.

Sri Lanka is heading towards a big total here in the first ODI of the Asia Cup as Sangakkara and Thirimanne have been playing super knocks for their team. Both of them have already stitched 147 runs for the second wicket and are toying with the Pakistan bowlers. Thirimanne is just 18 runs shy of his ODI hundred, whereas in-form Sangakkara is on 64 with the help of eight boundaries. Pakistani bowlers are looking clueless at the moment.

Pakistan desperately need a wicket here. Sri Lanka have crossed the mark of 100 runs in the 20th over and both the batsmen –- Sangakkara and Thirimanne -- have now started scoring boundaries at will. Meanwhile, opener Thirimanne has also completed his fifty run-mark with the help of six boundaries. Sri Lanka are maintaining a good run rate of 5.35. Pakistan have to break this partnership as its now getting dangerous with passing over.

Fatullah: So within few minutes, the 12th edition of the Asia Cup is going to start when defending champions Pakistan will lock horns with Sri Lanka at Fatullah, Bangladesh. Both the teams are well balanced and have won their last ODI tournaments. But when it comes to bowling department, Pakistan have an upped hand. Good thing from Pakistan`s point of view is that their skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez have been in good form. Similarly, for Sri Lanka their one of the most experienced campaigners, Kumar Sanagakkara has been in sublime form. Though Pakistan might have a slight edge in bowling department they can`t take Sri Lanka lightly who have won the Asia Cup four times and are strong contenders to lift the trophy this time around as well.
As it`s the first match, both the teams will try to it to start their campaign on a positive note.
